Mississippi PFP Fellows,
The Mississippi Policy Fellows Program (PFP) looks forward to hosting you in the nation's capital for the Washington Legislative Summit (WLS). Please use the following information as you make flight plans in advance of the dates.
-- Preferred Airport: Please book your flights into and out of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).
-- Hotel Information: The program will be staying at the Melrose Georgetown Hotel, located at 2430 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20037. Please do not make hotel reservations on your own, the program has scheduled a cohort room block. We will provide more information on the hotel and procedure in a subsequent email.
-- Families are Welcome: Please consider bringing your families. While you'll be busy participating in agenda activities, there is plenty for them to do on their own. They are also welcome to join us for Wednesday night's group dinner.
-- Date Extensions: Please let Tyson Elbert know as soon as possible if you'd like to add dates to your stay. Thanks to those that have already submitted your requests.
-- Washington Legislative Summit (WLS) Dates: The Mississippi Policy Fellows Program's Washington Legislative Summit (WLS) will be held on Tuesday, May 19th through Thursday, May 21st. Both the United States Senate and House will be in session during that time. Monday, May 18th will be your inbound travel day.
-- Monday Itinerary: For planning purposes, please plan to use Monday, May 18th as your travel day (unless you are coming early).
-- Tuesday Itinerary: Tuesday, May 19th's agenda will begin at 9:00 am and conclude at or around 5:00 pm. Breakfast will be on your own. Lunch will be included on this date.
-- Wednesday Itinerary: Wednesday, May 20th's agenda will begin at 9:00 am and conclude after our group dinner that evening (7:00-9:00 pm). Breakfast will be on your own. Lunch will be on your own in the Longworth House Cafeteria. The program will provide the group dinner.
-- Thursday Itinerary: Thursday, May 21st's agenda will begin at 9:00 am and conclude at or around 12:00 pm. Breakfast and lunch will be on your own. If you plan on scheduling flights home on Thursday, you'll want to depart from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). You are expected to participate in the scheduled meetings Thursday morning. We ask that you schedule your departures no earlier than 3:00 pm as a result. If you schedule a flight that departs earlier than 3:00 pm, you'll be asked to change the reservation.
Note* Mississippi PFP directors will respond to communication from program Fellows only. It is program policy that planning be coordinated by those attending and not support staff and/or third parties.
Please be patient as the Washington Legislative Summit's (WLS) plans are revealed. The program has a long history of hosting this event. Let us reward your patience and assist in the process.
Thanks to all,
Tyson Elbert
